Belle de Jour planner + fringe + book = Thoughts on Changes

BER months are here and it is that time of the year again when we ask ourselves “Where did the whole year go?” “What the heck did I do with those 10 months? When the current year is about to end and a new year is about to be born, surely a lot of us reflect on our past and reevaluate our future.

This melancholic thought came to me when I bought my Belle de Jour Planner 2013 at Belle de Jour Fair 2012 in SM MOA last October 14, Sunday. Somehow, BDJ reminds me that in just a matter of time, I will be saying goodbye to my current BDJ planner and hello to a new one.

Belle de Jour

Live life to the fullest. – BELLE DE JOUR POWER PLANNER 2013

Speaking of never ending changes, I thought of changing a bit of my boring hairstyle. I am known for having that stick straight black hair- a stereotypical for a Filipina. I decided to get me some bangs! Fringe is a great way to change one’s look without doing so much to the hair. I had fringe a year ago and I let it grow without ever cutting it short again. I decided to do it once again because I am in dire need of transformation.

Ruin is a gift. Ruin is the road to transformation. – EAT PRAY LOVE, Liz Gilbert

When it comes to transformation, I am having loads of it from the psychology book by Scott M. Peck called “Road Less Traveled.” It is not the typical self-help book of which I’ve slightly gone tired of reading. This book is more on the psychology of humans, why we think and feel that way. It is straightforward yet colloquial enough so the readers can grasp what the author is saying.

Life is difficult. – ROAD LESS TRAVELED, M. Scott Peck, MD

Well, it’s true that change is the one thing constant in this world yet we all wish one thing: that we may all change for the better. With that I would like to leave you with the lyrics of the song “Constant Change” by Jose Mari Chan. May we all see clouds transform into wonderful shapes and sizes.

We’re on the road
We move from place to place
And oftentimes when I’m about to call it home
We’d have to move along
Life is a constant change…

The friends we know we meet along the way
Too soon the times we share form part of yesterday
‘Cause life’s a constant change
And nothing stays the same, oh no

Clouds that move across the skies
Are changing form before our very eyes

Why couldn’t we keep time from movin’ on?
Hold on to all the years before this moment’s gone?
Why must we live the days at such a frightening pace?

We’re all like clouds that move across the skies
And changing form before our very eyes

Have we outgrown our Peter Pans and wings?
We’ve simply grown too old for tales of knights and kings
‘Cause life’s a constant change
And nothing stays the same, oh no
